1. Feel Good – Illenium & Gryffin feat. Daya

I can’t express how much I love this song. In Shadow of the Stormbird, I listened to this song on loop the entire time I was writing the reunion chapter. I just think it’s perfectly epic and emotional for Nil and Aloy getting back together.

I’ve always loved this song as being such a happy and carefree love song. It’s always reminded me of going on a road trip with wild abandon. It’s the perfect love song for nomads like Aloy and Nil, whose real home is just with each other.

Aaaand then on the other end of the spectrum is this song. Arguably the darkest and most disturbing, but also HOTTEST and most intensely sexual song of all time. This is what’s going on in dom!Nil’s mind, whether he consciously knows it or not.

This is just the ultimate sex song, IMHO. Perfect for stripping to, perfect for fucking to. It’s dark and sexual. It’s Mara and Reyes’ song. There’s nothing else to say really.

This is just a cute love/sex song. I wrote a whole smut scene of 100-word drabbles named after this song. Mara likes to sing this song out loud while dancing around in the kitchen in her panties for Reyes.

LOL. 2) The Mass Effect universe, so I could marry Garrus Vakarian. LOL. 3) The futuristic world of The Expanse series (by James S.A. Corey), where the Earth hosts 30 billion people(!!!) and Mars has been colonized and there are asteroid colonies between here and Mars, and then travel to other systems… oh man, the future. It would be terrible and fascinating all at once.

“Varl, he… made an impression. He has some mother issues, but… I like him.” 

So in my opinion: Aloy doesn’t flirt with anyone in the game, doesn’t clearly express romantic interest in anyone. But as much as I’m NILOY FOREVER, I think Varl is probably the #1 person she’s most interested in getting closer to. Not just the dialogue line above when she’s visiting Rost’s grave – notice that Varl is the only friend she tells Rost about – but also that she invites him into All-Mother Mountain, which seems like a huge deal. 

Again, I’m not saying I ship it (not that I don’t ship it! I love all the ships!), and I’m not saying that I think Aloy has a thing for Varl. I just find their interactions interesting.

Nil: What’s wrong with you?

Aloy: Huh? Nothing.

Nil: Suntress. What’s wrong?

Aloy: … I have to pee. 

Nil: Why didn’t you go before? You won’t have a chance when the battle starts.

Aloy: I forgot, okay? Little busy thinking about a rogue subfunction coming to kill us all.
